Colore è is a project about how we represent and perceive color— without actually showing it. The aim was to invite viewers to imagine a color purely through reading a set of words. We started with a simple question: “What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of [a specific color]?”
Through a questionnaire, we collected words — objects, memories, feelings, sensations — that people associated with different colors. We then translated these responses into a series of photograms made in the darkroom, using only light and analog photography. The final images, in black and white, evoke color through contrast, shape, and intensity, offering a visual experience of color without relying on hue.
